GalleryPlatform.LA: Ross Caliendo and Ryan Nord Kitchen

M+B is pleased to present new paintings by Ross Caliendo and Ryan Nord Kitchen. This presentation for GalleryPlatform.LA explores how Caliendo and Kitchen expand on the possibilities of the medium through the landscape tradition.

Ross Caliendo’s paintings are characterized by heightened colors, graphic lines, and textured marks. His evocative scenes of uninhabited wilderness depict open-ended psychological moods rather than specific places. In Ryan Nord Kitchen’s canvases, representational elements take on the quality of gestural marks—intimate scribbles, lines and dots bear the traces and memories of a landscape, while pools of abstraction solidify into markers of that space.
